Malaviya National Institute of Technology (MNIT) Jaipur is located in Jaipur, Rajasthan, India. The Institute was established as a Malaviya Regional Engineering College (MREC) in 1963 jointly by Government of India and Government of Rajasthan. The Institute was upgraded to MNIT Jaipur in 2002 by Government of India and accorded the status of deemed university with autonomy to decide its academic policies and to award its own degrees. In 2007, the Institute was declared as an “Institute of National Importance” by National Institutes of Technology Act, 2007.

The Institute is now an autonomous body and is fully funded by the Ministry of Education (Shiksha Mantralaya), Government of India. The Institute lies in the heart of the pink city, imaginatively laid out with a picturesque landscape of 317 acres. The Institute has renowned faculty and laboratories equipped with state-of-the-art facilities. Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering is one of the oldest departments established in 1965 and offers B. Tech, M. Tech and Ph. D programs. With the rich heritage of metallurgical processing and testing of materials, over the last two decades, the department adapted transformations and expectations worldwide in diverse materials engineering areas. Some of the advanced research areas includes advanced and exotic steels, polymeric materials, advanced composites, nanomaterials, high entropy alloys, additive manufacturing, and surface engineering.

The department has state-of-the-art characterization facilities. Its Alumni hold important position in academia, R&D organizations and industries at India as well as abroad. The department has good Industry-Institute interactions and received research funding of more than Rs. 450 lakhs including a prestigious DST-FIST grant in the last five years. Asian Polymer Association (APA) was founded in 2007 at the premises of Indian Institute of Technology, New Delhi, India (www.asianpolymer.org). The society involves academicians, scientists and technologists from all over the Asian countries providing a well knitted structure of the society. Vision of the society is to bring together Asian Science and Technology to the forefront of global arena so that a very dynamic association with the scientific world from Europe and America may be accomplished.

The society platform will help out in bringing together the polymer community to a highly interactive association with each other. The society has grown as a dynamic platform at the international level with enormous collaboration with societies abroad. APA is celebrating its 10 years of existence this year and this event would be a landmark in the growth of the society.
